Forum Title: Replacing That's Right carpet by Shaw - need suggestions
I have a new home build that has Shaw That's Right carpet fail within a year. The traffic wear is excessive. Shaw won't warranty the carpet for some reason. The company we bought through has been amazing to deal with said they will replace because it because it is so horrible. I am looking for a carpet that will be good for a young family of 4. Will be installed on two stair ways, upstairs hallway and bedrooms and in a rec-room. Looking for something that will wear well and last for many years. Will be installed on the best under pad that the supplier sold. I was told that we should look for something with more weight, but I recognize there is a lot more to carpet than weight. I would like some stain resistant aspect like r2x, but I will not buy another Shaw product. We liked the nylon, but maybe there is a better option for us? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help.

I?d say you have a builder grade carpet. Not Shaw?s fault. ?What I think? Carpet, especially residential mats down, some quicker than others. Different types of flooring will handle traffic better. Carpet quiets down the space, even walk noise. Why don?t you get more years out of it? My carpet was shot 2 years ago, still looks about the same since then.

Nylon is the fiber you should stay with.

Got any pictures of this ?fail?? Has the retailer recommended a different style carpet? Stairs and halls always show traffic patterns. So how much is retailer crediting you for and now what?s the cost of new carpet? I?m not a fan of regular carpet on stairs unless it?s high grade like commercial convention center type durability. Then it goes to different material, hard surface type in hall and stairs and isolate the bedrooms for individual choices of carpet.
